Duties

*VISITOR SERVICES AND ANIMATION JOBS :

• RECEPTION AND INFORMATION (Many positions)
Welcome, inform and guide visitors to help improve their experience. Collect various entrance fees and activity fees from campers and daily customers.

• MAINTENANCE (Many positions)
Ensure the cleaning and maintenance of buildings, campgrounds and rest stops & picnic areas in La Mauricie National Park, in order to offer an exceptional experience to visitors.

• PRESENTER (Many positions)
In addition to welcoming, guiding visitors, collecting entrance fees and those related to the store, you will be called upon to present activities and provide information to visitors while wearing the Parks Canada uniform and/or dress in period costume. You will also be able to ensure the monitoring and cleanliness of the facilities in order to preserve the natural and cultural resources of your work environment.

• NATURALIST (3 positions)
The Mauricie National Park interpretation team is looking for student (s) – Naturalist (s)!
You are passionate about nature and you want to share it with visitors by presenting activities relating to fauna, flora, history and resources conservation projects? You could have the chance to spend the summer in one of the most beautiful places in the region! You will also have to perform other related tasks in the field or remotely to help ensure the proper functioning of visitor services.


*TECHNICAL SUPPORT JOBS:

• TECHNICAL SUPPORT MAINTENANCE (6 positions)
Provides general labour services to support grounds and facilities maintenance.

• TECHNICAL SUPPORT - ASSETS MANAGEMENT (2 positions)
Support technical agents to perform various tasks in the development and monitoring of contracts and maintenance teams.

• ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT (1 position)
Perform various administrative tasks, ranging from filing, to writing procedures and entering data.

• FINANCE SUPPORT (2 positions)
Parks Canada Agency is currently looking for a student who has an interest in performing various support tasks in a finances and administration office at its Shawinigan location. Expenses and revenues occur at La Mauricie National Park as well as at our 11 National Historic Sites located in Western Québec and the supporting documents are forwarded to Shawinigan administrative office to be verified and processed.

• STAFFING SUPPORT (1 position)
Each year, we hire nearly a hundred students to work at our historic sites as well as at La Mauricie National Park. Join our dynamic HR team of civil servants-really-not-boring to put into practice what you've learned and acquire a wealth of professional experience, particularly for job postings, by offering management support during the staffing process and by participating in various HR projects.

Students are hired part-time during their academic terms and they can work part-time or full-time during their off-school seasons.

MANOIR PAPINEAU NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE (NHS) (Montebello)
Set in Montebello, halfway between Gatineau and Montréal, Manoir Papineau is a page straight out of 19th century history that opens right before your eyes, the grand estate of Louis-Joseph Papineau, the man who was to become a leading figure in Canadian politics. Flanked by four towers, the manor house rules over its surrounding landscape with its landscaped garden, spacious lawns, wooded areas and a stream. Take an excursion into the life of the head of Francophone patriots. On the menu: a guided tour of the manor and its outbuildings.

COTEAU-DU-LAC NHS (Coteau-Du-Lac)
located about 40 km southwest of Montréal on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. It features Canada’s first lock canal and the remains of a fort. With a history spanning 7,000 years, the site was a portage and encampment location used by Amerindians to avoid the rapids, a military fortification, and a canal that opened the way for commercial shipping.

SIR WILFRID LAURIER NHS (St-Lin Des Laurentides)
Located in Saint-Lin-Laurentides in Lanaudière, about 50 km northeast of Montreal, the Sir Wilfrid Laurier National Historic Site commemorates the life and work of the former Prime Minister of Canada. Through the visit of the warm heritage residence or during the activities presented in the outdoor garden, we discover the typical habits and customs of a family from the beginning of the 19th century but also the course and career of the politician.

OBADJIWAN–FORT TÉMISCAMINGUE NHS (Duhamel-Ouest)
This national historic site is an old trading post, an enchanted forest, a beach bordering a 110 kilometer lake, 6,000 years of Aboriginal presence and two centuries of rivalry for control of furs. Above all, it is a magnificent work environment located near Ville-Marie in Abitibi-Témiscamingue.

THE FUR TRADE AT LACHINE NHS (Montreal)
Camped in the enchanting setting of the Lachine borough on the edge of the St-Louis, the National Historic Site of Trade-de-la-Fourrure-à-Lachine retraces the history of the fur trade from yesterday to today. . Built in Lachine in 1803 by a wealthy shareholder of the North West Company for its strategic location, this warehouse has now been transformed into a museum retracing the history of a trade which served as a pretext for the exploration of a whole continent.

SIR GEORGE-ÉTIENNE CARTIER NHS (Montreal)
Rooted in the historic district of Old Montréal at the corner of the prestigious Notre Dame and Berri streets, the Sir George Étienne Cartier National Historic Site is a surprising heritage gem that offers a moment for discovery and relaxation just a stone's throw from Montréal's bustling tourist scene. Canada's political history is revealed in two semi-detached houses that once belonged to the main architect of the Confederation, Sir George Étienne Cartier. Interactive exhibits will immerse you in the debates, values and atmosphere leading to the creation of the country.

FORGES-DU-SAINT-MAURICIE NHS (Trois-Rivières)
In Mauricie, halfway between Montréal and Québec City, discover the remains of Canada's first iron industry. Enter the Grande Maison to admire the iron and cast iron pieces made at the Forges, then stop at the blast furnace to learn more about this community of artisans who, for 150 years, provided the objects necessary for the development of the colony and its defence. Follow the stream and take a breath of fresh air as you walk the nature trail along the Saint Maurice River. Plan your picnic and take full advantage of the vast site, which is like a green oasis surrounding the rich history of the Forges …

FORT CHAMBLY NHS (Chambly)
Located at about 30 kilometres of Montreal, Fort Chambly rises proudly at the foot of the Richelieu Rapids. Fort-Chambly is a friendly site combining a fortification dating from 1711 with an urban park. Step into the fortification, which features the restored main components of its original architecture, and discover how French soldiers lived in the era of New France.

LOUIS-S-ST-LAURENT NHS (Compton)
Located in Compton in the Eastern Townships 20 km from Sherbrooke, the Louis S. St-Laurent National Historic Site recalls the life and work of the former Canadian prime minister. Visit the house where he was born as well as his father’s general store, and fall under the spell of the beginning of the 20th century. Explore the remarkable history of a man renowned for his integrity and immerse yourself in the attractions of the rural village where he grew up.
